Visit Tower Grove East for an Authentic Ethnic Meal

 

Want to taste international delights such as gnocchi, pho tai, or chicken tanjine without having to endure long and expensive flights? Then head to Tower Grove East where there are several ethnic restaurants.

Wei Hong Bakery and Restaurant (3175 South Grand Boulevard) – Serves authentic Chinese meals including kungpao shrimp, rice congee, and beef chow fun. Stop in their bakery on your way out and pick up some dim sum, wintermelon cookies, or lotus cakes.

Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant (3210 South Grand Boulevard) – Named after the first month of the Ethiopian calendar, diners can enjoy Meskerem Tibbs, gomen wat, yebeg alecha wat, and other traditional foods.

The Vine Mediterranean Café and Market (3171 South Grand Boulevard) – Offers an array of choices that include falafel, Lebanese nachos, hummus, and shish kafta. If you have a sweet tooth, try their signature chocolate baklava.

Pho Grand ( 3195 South Grand Boulevard) – Feast on Vietnamese dishes such as pho tai and banh cuon thit nuong. If you are not sure what to order, ask the waitstaff. They will be happy to help you find a meal that suits your taste.

King and I Thai Restaurant (3155 South Grand Boulevard) – Chefs prepare traditional foods made from scratch, including crying tiger salad and tom yum. They were awarded the honor of being one of the best Thai restaurants overseas by the Thai government.

Baida Moroccan Restaurant (3191 South Grand Boulevard) – The first Moroccan restaurant in St. Louis serves zaaluk, carrot salad, and chicken tanjine just to name a few specialties. For a little extra entertainment, belly dancing is performed the first Saturday of every month.

Mangia Italiano (3145 South Grand Boulevard) – A casual atmosphere allows guests to relax as they enjoy Italian classics such as bruschetta, gnocchi, pizza, and pasta.

Tower Taco (3147 Cherokee Street) – Burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and chimichangas are just some of the menu options at this Mexican eatery. For those over 21, wash down your meal with their famous margarita which customers call “The Tower Tranquilizer.”
