Benton Park in St. Louis: Come and Join in on the Halloween Fun

Did you know that St. Louis has a lot of spooktacular activities going on for Halloween? It’s true and Benton Park is one of the great places to find them. Why? Its home to one of our city’s very own haunted houses. Known far and wide as, The Lemp Mansion, it’s been featured on popular television shows like Syfy’s Ghost Hunters. And every year the mansion’s owners host a series of entertaining events for kids and adults alike. Here’s a head under the covers, one eye open look at some of them:

Lemp Mansion

This year, they’ll be tentatively putting on six different spine tingling events. The young children may enjoy the mansion’s pumpkin carving contest and Halloween trivia night. Teens and adults may want to sign up for the Lemp Experience, haunted tours, an Edgar Allen Poe evening and paranormal activity hunting trip. There’s also a funny dinner theatre show planned for the month. It’s titled, Zombie Love! (No Biting). The mansion’s onsite museum, although far from scary, is well worth a visit too. It will help explain some of Benton Park’s most colorful moments in history.

Lemp Brewery

If you are the type of person that laughs in the face of zombies and loves a lot of horror with Halloween, there is another place you just have to consider visiting. It’s the Lemp Brewery. And yes, it is connected to the same family that once owned the mansion. But be forewarned. This is no ordinary brewery tour. The place is all decked out for Halloween, complete with really gruesome actors and actresses that would love nothing more than to scare the candy corn out of you. They’re calling the tour, The Abyss at Lemp Brewery.

Fortune Teller Bar

For a somewhat more sedate, but still adult celebration, head towards The Fortune Teller Bar. It’s a cool place to grab a cocktail, learn your fate and soak up the city’s long standing connection to clairvoyants, palm readers and the like. Plus, the bar owners sell tasty pub foods too, like pickled eggs, roast beef sandwiches and Bavarian pretzels. So you’ll have no problem scaring up a bite to eat if you’re feeling puckish after chasing the area’s ghosts around the brewery and mansion.
